Andrea C. Gibson, ASID, NKBA member
President
Andrea Gibson formed Gibson Design Group in 2000 in Seattle, WA and moved the firm's headquarters to Charlottesville, VA in 2003. She was previously the principal designer and owner of Architectural Interiors, Inc., a Washington, DC and Seattle, WA based firm, from 1972-1999. During her 30+ years as a principal designer, Andrea has designed residential and commercial spaces across the United States, in Canada, and in the Middle East.

From 1975-1977, Andrea also served as the Director of Design for HLM Architects in Iowa City, IA-an architectural firm with over 300 employees specializing in hospital design.

Through her many years of experience and her education, Andrea brings a strong working knowledge of construction, blueprints, electrical planning/layout, furniture, and antiques. She now specializes in new construction, renovations, and remodeling. Andrea is a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers, a member of NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association), and is NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) certified. She served as president of ASID for Washington state in 2001-2002 and served on the board from 1999-2002. Andrea currently serves as finance director for the state of Virginia ASID chapter.

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Maryland and a minor in textiles and urban sociology. She has completed graduate studies, also at the University of Maryland, in landscape architecture.

Alexandra Gibson
Director, Business Development
Alexandra Gibson joined Gibson Design Group in February 2005. She came on board to run the business and financial side of the company and to help with marketing and public relations. Before joining the firm, Alexandra worked for NVR, Inc.-a national homebuilder-in sales and marketing. She excelled in NVR's corporate training program by developing a working knowledge of blueprints, site plans, general construction practices, and mortgage financing. Alexandra marketed and sold over $10.8 million of new construction in two residential developments in Prince George's County, Maryland and was nominated for Rookie of the Year in 2003.

Alexandra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University, majoring in Economics and minoring in Finance. In addition to serving as Director of Business Development for Gibson Design Group, Alexandra is a Managing Partner for Pacifica Project Management, a construction consulting company that specializes in working with small to medium-sized builders. She is also the president of Gibson Investment Group, a real estate investment firm that seeks to develop a mixed portfolio of real estate assets for its investors.

In Alexandra's "free time", she enjoys spending time competing her horse, skiing, and staying involved in the community through Junior League and the March of Dimes.

Robin Love Ellis, Allied ASID
Associate Designer
Robin Love Ellis is a long time Albemarle County resident who joined Gibson Design Group in June 2006. She is an Allied member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) with a B.A. in English from University of Virginia and a B.A. in Interior Design from Mary Baldwin College.

Robin brings 5 years professional experience in interior design and design consulting with numerous projects in the Charlottesville area as well as Northern Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. She specializes in restoring and renovating historic properties, having worked on "Temple Hill", 1782, Ivy, Va.; "The Rocks",1840's, Ivy, Va.; "SunnyFields", Troy, Va.; and the South Pavilion at Monticello.

When not working, Robin spends time foxhunting, gardening, and taking care of her children, peacocks, chickens, horses, and dogs (plus her husband!).

Amanda Butterworth
Web Designer/CAD Specialist
Amanda Butterworth first joined Gibson Design Group in June 2005 as a design intern and stayed with GDG through her fourth year at the University of Virginia. After graduating in 2006 with a degree in architecture, Amanda moved to Washington, D.C. to work for a large architecture firm. Amanda found that she missed the atmosphere, personal connection, and satisfaction that a smaller firm can provide, and began working for a project management firm with Alexandra Gibson in September 2007. In March 2008, Amanda returned to work for Gibson Design Group and we're so excited to have her back!

Amanda is originally from Chesapeake, VA and was involved with Delta Gamma and Women's Club Volleyball while at U.Va., where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a minor in Architectural History. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball and softball, cooking and baking, as well as graphic design and web design.
