UVA Cancer Center’s Breast Care Program Women’s Four Miler- I Did It!

On September 1, 2018, I participated in the Charlottesville Women’s 4-Miler to benefit the UVA Cancer Center’s Breast Care Program.  My daughter Alexandra and I ended up walking 4.8 miles including the distance from the parking area, lining up and then the race.  There were 1974 participants and I didn’t finish last!! We finished 1929 and 1930 and I wasn’t even last in my age group. The weather was as perfect as possible with fog and overcast skies and about 75 degrees.  It was a very festive atmosphere with great volunteers cheering everyone on and other runners/walkers shouting encouragement.  We walked at a pace that was 3 minutes faster per mile than I had been doing in my training so I felt very accomplished. The winning time was 22.09 minutes; she was a spectacular runner.

So far you wonderful people have contributed $2780.00 under my name.  I appreciate so much support for me and the charity since I was hoping to reach a $300.00 goal!  The donation site is open until September 25 so if anyone would like to still contribute, there is time.

Thank you all again so very much for your financial support for UVA Cancer Center’s Breast Care program and for your kind and emotional support for me, you all are greatly appreciated.
